WHAT IS A ROOT CANAL TREATMENT (RCT)?

This is a procedure done to help remove the infection that has reached the pulp thus removing the cause of pain and discomfort and helps saves the tooth. With this procedure, we help the patient to save the tooth, relieve pain and remove infection thus making the tooth healthy again.

SYMPTOMS INDICATING THE NEED OF RCT:

  • Tooth sensitivity (Hot and severe cold sensation, though every cold  sensitivity doesn’t indicate the same).
  • Sleepless nights, Pain radiating from the tooth to ear or head

Typically, 30 to 60 minutes is ample, but more complex cases may take up to 90 minutes or more. The procedure requires mostly single sitting or about 2 sittings depending on the infection present with respect to the tooth.

THE PROCEDURE OF ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

  • Primarily, the dentist performing the procedure will X-Ray the tooth inquestion to check if it is viable, if the infection has spread to otherregions, anatomy of the roots and canals.
  • We numb the tooth in question and gums near the site.
  • Once completely numbed, under magnification, we enter the tooth bymaking a small opening and access the affected pulp, which has yourvessels and nerves and bacteria.
  • Carefully by using the latest medications and technologies we  clean thepulp and canals of the tooth making it completely infection free.
  • Once done and ensured through certain fine techniques, the canals arecoated with medication that avoids re infection and is filled and sealedwith Gutta percha.
  • Once done, we complete the procedure by filling and sealing the tooth.
  • Depending on the severity, we may or may not prescribe the antibioticsor anti-inflammatory.

DOES THE ROOT CANAL PROCEDURE HURT?

Our best dental team at ExlDentist Dental Clinic, make sure you don’t feel any pain during the root canal procedure or during numbing procedure as well. The pain associated with root canal treatment comes from the tooth itself before you get it treated. The truth is, removing the infection removes the pain. Painful root canals are actually a myth.

You are likely to experience mild pain and discomfort for 2-3 days after the procedure. This pain is normal to experience for a bit, and can be managed with pain killers and anti-inflammatory.
